Professionals in Human Resources Association (PIHRA) Bestows the Excellence in Human Resources Award to Jacquelyn Thorp, SPHR-CA, CEO of HR Coach LLC
Temecula, CA - On Saturday, January 5, 2008, the Professionals in Human Resources Association (PIHRA) awarded Jacquelyn Thorp its 2007 Excellence in Human Resources Award in a ceremony at the 2008 Leadership Conference held in Torrance, California.
The PIHRA Excellence in Human Resources Award is a prestigious honor bestowed upon one person each year. It is awarded to the individual who has given generously to the field of Human Resources. Each PIHRA district nominates a qualified member. Jacquelyn Thorp was nominated for the award by the Temecula district that meets monthly at Pat and Oscars. The award is then considered by the governing Board of Directors in Los Angeles represented by the 19 Southern California districts.
Thorp received the award based on her professional experience, accomplishment and strategic impact. Award recipients have contributed to the field of human resources by providing unique, special or state-of-the-art HR management and support to employers and their employees through their work, teaching, writing or other personal and professional efforts. “In every area of evaluation,” states Ruth Ferry, Chairperson of the Temecula District, “Jacquelyn demonstrates experience, depth of knowledge and strong achievement that qualify her to be recognized for this award.” Thorp, who has been a human resources professional for more than 25 years, is a graduate of Chapman University, holding a Master’s of Science in Human Resources and a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership. She is a professor at California State University, Fullerton.
PIHRA is the largest chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) with more than 5,000 members, and the HR Excellence Award is their most prestigious honor. “I am honored by the recognition of my peers,” says Thorp. “I am committed to helping companies meet their mandatory compliance needs, specifically in providing sexual harassment prevention training and food safety training.”
PIHRA was founded in 1944 by a small group of Los Angeles personnel executives. They organized to provide a forum in which Human Resource professionals could exchange ideas, increase their knowledge of and work together for the betterment of the profession.
